The Great Gatsby was a really good movie. I actually haven’t recently seen one where I felt compelled to write down my thoughts on it. A film critic’s review, if you will.

I have to admit that I have yet to read the book. And as everyone says, “The book is always better.” But who knows? This is the first time I would have seen the movie first and I’m glad I was not disappointed. It was very well done. The storyline was very intriguing. It wasn’t a white knuckle plot, but I was glued to the screen. There were small parts that I missed and couldn’t quite understand, but that’s a minor detail compared to the grand picture. Every frame was a crazy composition I wish I painted. It was a bit reminiscent of Moulin Rouge - a bit unreal, but you desperately wish you could be a part of.

Recommended, definitely.

postscript I forgot how much I’m in love with Leonardo DiCaprio. That hasn’t changed. Still as great an actor and as beautiful as ever 🙈. Just the sight of him in suspenders while putting his hands in his pockets is enough reason for me to watch this again. UNF.
